Meet JPEC’s President

As President of Jackson Preparatory & Early College Jonathon Marowelli oversees the day-to- day operations at Michigan’s only tuition-free whole school Early College that includes a middle school. Mr. Marowelli began his tenure at JPEC as an English teacher during the school’s first year, rose to the position of Principal in 2015 and became President 2 1/2 years ago.

Success Looks Different for Every Student

“Success looks different for every student, but I believe every student can learn. At JPEC I want to give each one a step in the right direction even if they don’t know where they’re going to end up.”

Learning is personalized here, enabling each JPEC Falcon to find their passion and figure out what they want to do without any financial burden on the student or family.

A Supportive Environment

“When I went off to college, I had one idea of what I wanted to do; but that quickly changed and then changed again. I wish I had the support we give our students as they take college classes and explore different fields.”

Mr. Marowelli, who is currently pursuing a doctorate in education at University of Michigan-Flint, earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Siena Heights University and a Specialist in Education – Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University. After spending a year in Taiwan teaching English, he taught in a juvenile justice setting and then became a Program Coordinator for a TRIO program before coming to JPEC.

“I couldn’t believe how well the school's mission fit within my idea of what education should and could be.”

A Close-Knit Community

JPEC is a small, learning community where every student is known by name.

“I love the diversity and close-knit community our students build, and I love seeing all different kinds of students succeed in ways that will have monumentally positive effects on their lives.”

Jackson Preparatory & Early College is now enrolling for the 2025-2026 school year in 6th – 12th grade. Schedule a school tour and meet Mr. Marowelli to learn more about all JPEC has to offer.
