Shared Time Instruction @ JPEC
Not every Jackson Preparatory & Early College (JPEC) student attends classes all day here. Some Falcons enrolled at our tuition-free 6th – 13th grade public school academy.
come to the Jackson College campus for specific JPEC courses and learning opportunities.
Why It Matters
In Michigan, a homeschooled student can enroll part-time in a public school’s elective courses. This means at JPEC homeschoolers can take as many electives as they want!
We offer over 20 electives, including robotics, band, choir, and art. Our competitive middle and high school robotics teams are the best in the county! The high school team has qualified for the world championships 5 of the last 6 years.
Our band and choir perform at least twice a year in the Jackson College Potter Center and in Solo & Ensemble.
Art students use Jackson College's world-class facilities, including the new Pottery Studio, to learn sculpture, ceramics, painting, drawing, scientific illustration, and digital art.
In PE & Health, students learn how to manage stress healthily, work out in our fully kitted-out Falcon Fitness Lab, stay active in outdoor sports, and use the college Fieldhouse for team sports. This year we’re adding a strongman class, as well as an amazing race-themed class!
How Homeschoolers Enroll @ JPEC
If you live in Jackson County, you are eligible to attend JPEC for shared time instruction. To enroll:
✅ Fill out a pre-enrollment form. (It’ll take about 5 minutes).
✅ Tell us your story (Don’t call us. We’ll call you!).
✅ Meet with a school leader (It’ll help us personalize your learning).
✅ Submit forms online (Thank you!).
✅ Attend orientation in August (We don’t want you to get lost on campus!).
Like all JPEC Falcons, homeschoolers participating in shared instruction are graded based on competency and skill. It’s what you know how to do, not just what you know.
Part-time students are eligible to join any of our eight competitive sports teams including cross country, basketball, cheer, tennis, golf, bowling, track, and volleyball.
Every student is known and cared for here at Jackson Preparatory & Early College. It’s a great place to try something new, find a passion, and figure out what you want to do. We’ll even help you decide what you don’t want to do! Join us during the 2025-2026 school year for shared time instruction. You’re welcome here!
