A School That Starts With You

JPEC is Michigan's only whole-school Early College program with a middle school, serving students in grades 6-13 on the campus of Jackson College. (*Not sure what an Early College is? Check out our Early College blog). From day one, whether your child is just starting 6th grade or stepping into their 13th year to finish their associate's degree, the question at the center of everything is: What does this student need to succeed? The answer looks different for every Falcon.
Learning at Your Pace, On Your Terms
One of the most powerful ways Jackson Prep puts students in the driver's seat is through our competency-based learning model. JPEC students earn credits by demonstrating at least 80% mastery, which means the bar is high, but so is the support to get there.
What this means in practice: a student who has a gift for science can accelerate through coursework and move into college-level classes ahead of schedule. A student who needs more time to master a concept gets exactly that, without the stigma of "falling behind" because the emphasis is always on progress, not pace comparison.
No one gets left behind. No one gets held back. Everyone moves forward when they're ready.
This kind of learning builds confidence. JPEC students graduate knowing they've genuinely earned everything they've achieved.
The Freedom to Choose Your Path
At Jackson Preparatory & Early College, every student is on the Early College path meaning every Falcon is already working toward college credits and an associate's degree, completely tuition-free. From there, students have the opportunity to add even more.
Through our partnership with Jackson College, JPEC students can earn up to 60 college credits, or a full Associate’s Degree, completely tuition-free while still in high school. Students who complete their associate's degree early can even dual enroll at partner institutions like Albion College to begin work toward a bachelor's degree while still enrolled at JPEC.
The Career Certification Add-on: About 40% of JPEC students choose to add a vocational certification through our partnership with the Jackson Area Career Center (JACC). Available to students in 11th grade and beyond, the JACC offers more than 20 programs, from automotive technology, construction trades, and welding to healthcare, culinary arts, cybersecurity, engineering, and cosmetology. These students graduate with both an associate's degree and an industry credential, job-ready and debt-free.
